Who are We

Eve Pacific Media is an affiliate marketing firm that provides support and guidance to those contemplating or who have chosen to become content creators. We help aspiring bloggers, content creators, and affiliate marketers with their strategies.

My relationship with multi-level marketing or network marketing started in the late 80s. I have had involvement with Shaklee, Primerica, Amway, and, yes, the infamous Consumer Buyline. I enjoyed various levels of success. Back then, I aspired to become an MLM or Network Marketing Pro. Savvy top MLM earners would build massive downlines, breakaway, and move to programs with the most lucrative opportunities during that era. This was a common practice before many States barred those multi-level marketing schemes.

Our goal at Eve Pacific Media is to use my vast experience to benefit others with a series of reviews of multi-level marketing companies.

What is Herbalife MLM?

Founded by Mark R. Hughes in 1980 as a weight-loss producer in California, Herbalife has grown to be a multi-million-dollar company today. Herbalife now offers special programs for weight loss and products ranging from aging and women’s health to digestive health and general fitness.

This Multilevel Marketing (MLM) company has a workforce exceeding 9,900 employees from 90 countries. According to a 2021 report, Herbalife clocked around $5.8 billion worth of sales. Herbalife also claims that over 5 million of its protein shakes are consumed every day.

The 4 decades old company is now a big boy in the weight management and dietary supplements industry that has protein shakes as its trademark product.

Herbalife works out a rigorous campaign for its marketing by coming up with powerful pitches to draw in customers. One such pitch can be found in the following video.

How Does Herbalife Work?

Herbalife works by providing consumers with diet plans for their weight loss goals. The idea is to replace two meals with two protein shakes in a day and take in your supplements.

Herbalife offers three distinct diet programs to choose from. But before you choose your diet program, you need to connect with a Herbalife distributor, who can either be your personal contact or can be found through its website.

Herbalife is a Multilevel Marketing company, which means it only deals through its distributors. Once you’ve connected with a distributor and chosen a program for yourself, you can begin your diet and continue until your reach your weight loss goals.

Can You Make Money with Herbalife?

You can probably make money with Herbalife but it’s not as likely as it may seem. To make any profit from Herbalife, you’ll need to recruit new distributors and sell products yourself as well. The main ways of making a profit are through the 25% commission you receive from Herbalife on selling its products and through the annual membership fee of your customers.

To give you an even more accurate answer, only the top 1% of Herbalife distributors earn over $100,000. From the remaining lot, 10% make $6,900, and about 50% make less than $370 annually. So, you can make money with Herbalife, but the chances are pretty slim.

Beware of Lawsuits

Herbalife is connected with a number of serious lawsuits. The Better Business Bureau’s website has flagged Herbalife with an alert due to its misrepresentation as a Chinese direct selling organization.

There is also a class-action lawsuit against Herbalife due to the complaints of its distributors. Herbalife’s distributors claim that the company misleads them on the number of earnings and profit possible for distributors.

Is Herbalife Legitimate?

Herbalife is surely a legitimate company that has a line of products proven to be quite effective. Though there are several concerns regarding the company besides the high price tag it puts on its products.

There are numerous lawsuits filed against the company, which makes it skeptical to approach as a distributor. Also, the lack of FDA approval raises some serious red flags for consumers. On the other side, the customers don’t seem to be very happy judging from the low reviews it has on the BBB website.

Final Thoughts

Herbalife is a time-tested dietary supplements and nutrition company that has been in the booming business for nearly 4 decades. The concept of its weight loss programs that replace meals with protein shakes and other supplements is phenomenal.

But as is the case with all good things, it has a few catches. If the company successfully secures FDA approval and comes out clean from all of its lawsuits, it will have a more reliable image built in the fitness and weight loss industry. But until then, it’s a risk that you’re willing to take with its products.
